I have been working in the software industry for 13 long years. I have been associated with big brands like Deloitte, SAP & currently Cognizant to name a few. I have reached a point in my career that I'm looking to transition definitely into a freelancer in the short term and may be into an entrepreneur in the long term.
There are clear motives behind my shift towards contracting. Here are a few that I can roll out off the cuff:
- The pay is good. I have had a good time with the best paymasters in the industry and still I can make a better cut in contracting than in full time work.
- Working hours is not a problem. I'm a night bird and prefer to work at odd hours.
- Location is not an issue. I cannot possibly over emphasise this point, as it's so important to save time and increase productivity.
- Work Life Balance. A continuation of the above point and the point before that, freelancing doesn't hinder my family life and let's me live a balanced life.
- Choice of what I want to work on. The choice on the work that you want to do daily is key to your satisfaction and how well you perform in it.
- It keeps me much more driven and focussed.
In the long run it helps me establish a brand for myself and leaving a legacy in the industry that I have chosen to work in. Joining the Toptal App Developers Group helps me take a step in the right direction towards all these goals and aspirations.
